A nice weather station, that works very well.
I ordered this as a much-needed birthday gift for the weather-obsessed in-laws. Now I should tell you that my reference point for a weather station very very low. You see, the in-laws bought a $20 weather station in France. As you might imagine the accuracy was +-15 degrees, it spontaneously would set off alarms for no apparent reason, the icons on the buttons were not actually painted on the buttons, and the screen was failing. Oh, and the manual was only in French, and needed those pesky button icons. There were NO diagrams in the manual that might indicate which button is where. In short, it was garbage. Now this new model has drastically improved things, both functionality wise and keeping marital bliss a little more likely. Despite my low standards, let's talk about this new one. The external station was assembled and up in an hour. The internal touch screen had icons, and the alarms have not gone off inappropriately. <cue beaming delight here>. I will say that the interface is a little counter-intuitive, and so reading AND keeping the manual is highly recommended. You'll find tapping the same part of the touch screen multiple times will scroll through numerous settings, and for the technophobic, that might put it in the "too confusing" basket. If that sounds like you, I might suggest an easier-to-use model. This is the only reason I have deducted 1 star. Now the new weather station has been in place for a couple of weeks now, and I haven't heard of any problems. I'm sure I would have heard every detail many times had there been one. Obviously, this model at $269, isn't going to compete with Davis models of considerably higher cost, but for people who have modest needs, and a desire to sleep uninterrupted, this is a model I'd highly recommend.
